The World Circular Economy Forum 2022 (WCEF2022)
Hosted in the Global South for the first time, the World Circular Economy Forum 2022 will be held in Kigali, Rwanda and online on 6-8 December 2022. The forum will explore major themes relevant to Africa’s development in which circularity could play a big role, including climate and nature, youth, infrastructure, entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as trade and value chains.
The first two days offer seven information-packed sessions that are accessible to all online. The third day is reserved for partner-led programmes that can take place anywhere around the world or online. This year’s global collaboration forum is a unique opportunity for African nations and the world at large to transition towards an inclusive, low-carbon and climate-resilient economy while tackling key societal challenges. Africa can lead the world towards a new, more resilient economy – the circular economy. With vast natural resources, a young population, strong entrepreneurship and new forms of collaboration, the African continent can be a source of inspiration to the world.
WCEF Studios support the main Forum at local level. They deliver all, or part, of the main Forum programme while incorporating additional elements to select local audiences. This year, there are two kinds of WCEF Studios available: African Studios from five cities across Africa and Global Studios from anywhere around the world. In addition, WCEF2022 Side Events can be organised throughout the year, excluding the forum days. The full list is available on Sitra’s website.
WCEF2022 is co-organised by the African Circular Economy Alliance (ACEA), the Republic of Rwanda, the African Circular Economy Network (ACEN) and The Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra, with international partners. The annual World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF) presents the world’s leading circular economy solutions with business leaders, policymakers and experts participating from around the world. Circular economy approaches can help businesses seize new opportunities and gain a competitive advantage, as well as contributing to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
WCEF is a global initiative of Finland and the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra. Taking place since 2017, the Forum presents solutions and experience, bringing together thousands of people from all over the world.
